Post Bohol Abu Sayyaf incident: Central Visayas barangay ‘spies’ to undergo training

THE REGIONAL Peace and Order Council (RPOC) in Central Visayas is finalizing plans for the reactivation of the Barangay Intelligence Network (BIN), including the training of the anti-crime group’s members who will be tasked to help prevent threats from terror groups. The BIN’s revival comes after the foiled attempt of kidnap-for-ransom Abu Sayyaf Group to enter Bohol province. Cebu Governor Hilario P. Davide III, chairman of the RPOC, said there is an available P5 million fund for the BIN. Meanwhile, Bohol Gov. Edgar M. Chatto called on the public to remain vigilant despite the neutralization of the Abu Sayyaf in the province. Mr. Chatto also commended the police and the military as well as residents who were key in tracking down the bandits. -- The Freeman
