Citadines Millennium Ortigas to open in May
INTERNATIONAL serviced residence operator The Ascott Limited is set to open its first property in Ortigas next month, marking its entry into Manila’s northern business district.
The Ascott has targeted the soft opening of Citadines Millennium Ortigas Manila, a 32-story mixed-used tower built in partnership with CDC Holdings Inc., on May 25.
In a briefing on Wednesday, Arthur Gindap, regional general manager for The Ascott in the Philippines and Thailand, said the property is looking to attract corporate clients looking for long-stay accommodations, given its proximity to the Ortigas business district.
“(The) business we have is corporate, so we don’t really compete with hotels, we aim for long-stay accommodations,” he said, adding that 70% of sales come from foreign corporate accounts and the rest from travel agents. Citadines Millennium Ortigas Manila will offer 293 serviced residences, with sizes ranging from 35 to 140 square meters and located on the 4th to 24th floors. The 25th to 29th rooms will be reserved for residential spaces, while the rest will be for service areas and amenities.
Only 210 rooms will be made available during the property’s soft opening, but the rest will be open by July.
“Ortigas is still a bustling commercial and business area, we are located at the center of the Ortigas Center which is very close to key financial institutions, ADB and the Philippine Stock Exchange. We’re also conveniently located near major BPOs in the area with the expansion all the way up to Eastwood,” said Citadines Senior Manager Richie Sayson-Cua.
The property is also looking to attract guests attending major conventions in the Ortigas area.
The property is The Ascott’s second partnership with CDC, the first being Somerset Millennium Makati in Legaspi Village.
Citadines is The Ascott’s 7th project in the country, amid seven more projects classified to be “under development” until 2023.
The firm is looking to expand its local footprint to Cebu, with the target opening of Citadines Cebu City in 2019 and Somerset Gorordo by 2021. This, along with five other projects in Metro Manila, will bring The Ascott’s portfolio to over 2,900.
The Ascott’s operational properties in the country so far include Somerset Millennium Makati, Ascott Makati, Citadines Salcedo Makati, Somerset Olympia Makati and Ascott Bonifacio Global City Manila. It looks to introduce two more brands, The Crest and Lyf, in the Philippines. -- Arra B. Francia
