Food fest celebrates EU culture
IN A show of cultural diplomacy, the EU-Philippines Business Network hosts the first European Food Festival in May. For the entire month, participating restaurants in Metro Manila, particularly European restaurants, are focusing on presenting special menus and dishes showing off the best of European cuisine.
The first European food festival falls on Europe Month, emanating from Europe Day (May 9), which celebrates the Schuman declaration (a statement placing French and German coal and steel production under one authority) which led to the formation of the European Coal and Steel Community, which in turn formed the basis for the European Union as we know it today.
Guests at participating restaurants have the chance to win raffle prices upon availing certain dishes from the special menus. Participating restaurants and food importers include: Balkan, Bar Pintxos Tapas y Mas, Brotzeit, Carpacio, Caruso, Cyma, El Cirkulo, Enderun 101 Restaurant, Illy, Impressions, Paul Bulangerie, Poco Deli, Salvatore Cuomo, Tauro by Society Lounge, Cafe Mediterranean, Maria Louisa’s at the Makati Garden Club, Santi’s, and Wagner German Bakery. -- JLG
