French pianist Duphil performs in PPO’s season-ending concert
FRENCH pianist Monique Duphil is the guest soloist in the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra’s final concert for its 34th season.
The Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO), under the baton of Yoshikazu Fukumura, performs on April 21, 8 p.m., at the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo (CCP Main Theater). The evening’s program includes G. Gershwin’s Girl Crazy -- Overture and Piano Concerto in F, A. Copland’s El Salon Mexico, and Arturo Marques’ Danzon No. 2 and El Conga del Fuego.
Ms. Duphil has performed in more than 50 countries on five continents. Some of the numerous symphony orchestras she has performed with are the Philadelphia Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, Orchestre Symphonique de Québec, Warsaw, Bern, Münchner Symphoniker, New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
She has recorded for Polydor, Telefunken (Japan), Marco Polo, Naxos, and Eclectra (Canada) labels. Her upcoming performances include engagements in Eastern Europe, Japan, South America, and tours with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, and orchestras of the Australian Broadcasting Corp.
